Eko Hot Blog reports that a socio-political group, Osun Shall Rise Again (OSRA), has accused operatives of the Nigerian Army of being “willing tools” in the hands of violent agents in Osun State.

No fewer than eight persons were reportedly killed on Sunday in the state after violence erupted following the inauguration ceremony of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary and Chairman of OSRA, Saheed Bakare and Lanre Akeju, respectively, the group accused thugs associated with the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of perpetrating the killings.

According to OSRA, it was “reliably” informed that the army “accepted to be willing tool in the hands of the PDP.”

It, therefore, called Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, to call soldiers at Ede to order.

The group also charged the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP, Sunday Faleye, to arrest the lawlessness in the state with immediate effect, while appealing to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to further charge the CP to take control of the situation.

“It will be recalled that this is not the first time citizens of Osun would be complaining of the wanton killing and destruction by the PDP thugs,” the statement reads in part.

“You will recall that after the July 17 election, these same thugs went on rampage destroying the government properties and billboards of the then governor, including attacking government officials.

“While we call for a proper investigation of the ongoing siege on parts of Osun, we also call on the people people of Osun to rise against this challenge. After all, they cannot kill all of us in one day.”
