Group Embarks On Tree Planting Campaign In Kaduna
A group under the Aegis of African Climate reporters has embarked on a massive campaign in both rural and urban centers on the importance of tree- planting to protect the environment against all forms of related environmental issues.
The awareness campaign was in collaboration with civil society and Non- governmental organizations, volunteer environmental experts as well as Teku International farms in Kaduna to combat the impact of global warming in Africa and Nigeria in particular.
Director, African climate Reporters, Comrade Mohammed Zakari explained that the joined campaign was targeted at mobilizing over One million participants to raise more awareness in the fight against Climate change, desertification, deforestation, Gully erosion, River Bank Erosion and all forms of environmental challenges affecting living organism and plants in the environment.
Mohammed said Afforestation was highly critical to maintaining biodiversity and ecologically balanced in the environment

The General manager, Teku International farm ( Large Horticulture Farmer) in Kaduna Mr. Ibrahim salisu emphasized that tree- planting was the only way to reduce the burden associated with environmental degradation
He pointed out that Planting millions of trees across the world was one of the biggest and cheapest ways of taking CO2 out of the atmosphere to tackle the climate crisis and toward supporting the world in changing the narrative of Climate change to sustain the tremendous green world project in Africa.
He said Plants help to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and significantly decrease the presence of toxic gases like methane. Adding that, it’s only through planned reforestation that the effects of deforestation can be checked to reduce global warming.
The Tree Planting campaign was carried out via the various means of communication such as radio, television, and social media platforms to drive the message home, especially to the rural communities.
