Group ‘EPWA’ Promotes Healthy Lifestyles For Epe Women

It is the general saying that “Behind Every Successful Woman is a Tribe of Other Successful Women Who Have Her Back”. This was the true genesis of Epe Professional Women Association, (EPWA).

Ekohotblog understands that the Epe Professional Women Association a non governmental organization was established September, 2015 by a group of visionary women namely Mrs. Funke Moore, Mrs. Oluwakemi Garbadeen-Adedeji, Mrs. Olayinka Ariba-Adeyemi and Mrs. Olushola Alade-Raji.

Epe Professional Women Association a
non-governmental, non-profit association is aimed at uplifting and giving betterment to women and girl-child from underprivileged background in Epe Division in particular and Lagos State in general.

In April 2016, the Epe Professional Women Group later metamorphosed to Epe Professional Women Association (EPWA) at the point of registration of the Association with Corporate Affairs Commissions (CAC).

Acheivements:
1. Donate various items to Hospitals and Health Centres
EPWA donated bedspreads, food items and toiletries to Epe General Hospital and Eredo Health Centre on 5th May, 2016.

2. Embark on Medical Outreach Missions
Listed below are the medical outreach sponsored by EPWA in its drive to positively impact on the lives of families at remote and underserve communities in Epe Division of Lagos State:
Medical Outreach at Agbowa/Ikosi Heath Centre in November 2017;
Medical outreach at Lekki Health Centre in May 2018; and
Medical Outreach at Ibeju Health Centre in May 2018.
4. Provide Mentoring and Counseling Supports
EPWA has been able to provide guidance to young girls and women as well as deliver meaningful opportunities for career progression through mentorship.
We have organized sensitization programme for students in Epe Division on the:
“Effect of Hard Drugs Amongst Teenagers” during the 2018 Children’s Day Celebration at General Hospital Hall, Epe. Eleven (11) schools participated in this programme; and
“Effect of Teenage Pregnancy and Sexual Abuse” during the 2019 Children’s Day at Eredo Local Council Development Area.
Books were donated to Eleven (11) Libraries in Epe Division.
4. EPWA also joined her counterpart of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day.
Presently, the membership of the Association has increased to sixty (60) and has remain a formidable Association beyond the Division till date.
Future Projects
1. To offer scholarships to students at both secondary and tertiary level.
2. To empower young women in Epe Division.
3. To build Skill Acquisition Center within Epe Division.

The Epe Professional Women Association, EPWA is set to raise the bar for women and children through it’s programs.
