Group Wants Gumi Arrested For Accusing Christian Soldiers of Killing Bandits

Dr. Gumi is an Islamic Scholar who is working to end Banditry in the northern part of the country by meeting bandits in their respective locations to broker peace talks with them.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, Dr. Gumi said Christian soldiers are the ones killing bandits to cause crises in Nigeria. This comment has been the source of fierce reactions amongst Nigerian, particularly the Nigerian army.

Another group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) in Nigeria has reacted again, wants Dr. Gumi arrested for accusing Christian Soldiers of killing bandits. In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA berated the Nigerian Army for failing to take practical and law-based action against Gumi.

Foremost rights advocacy group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called for the arrest of a popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi for alleging that non-Muslim soldiers were responsible for the attacks against bandits.

Lastly, the group said Dr. Gumi has committed treason for wrongly accusing Christian soldiers of killing bandits without evidence, and the penalty for treason is not to be issued a verbal warning.
