Eko Hot Blog reports that Pep Guardiola has labeled their upcoming Premier League clash against Brighton on Thursday night as a formidable challenge.
Tonight, at 8 p.m., Guardiola and his team will face off against Brighton at the Falmer Stadium for their 33rd league fixture of the season.
He said securing a victory against Brighton is imperative for Manchester City as they strive for their fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Manchester City currently occupy third place in the league standings, trailing second-placed Liverpool by just one point and league leaders Arsenal by four points.
What’s promising for Guardiola is that City have two games in hand, including tonight’s match against Brighton.
A victory tonight would propel City into second place, ahead of Liverpool by two points and just one point behind Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola told reporters that facing Brighton at Falmer Stadium is always challenging, especially with several injury concerns ahead of the crucial match.
“Today is one of the toughest games of the season”, Pep Guardiola said.
“Brighton away if you put in my calendar is always one of the toughest ones for the way they play.
“My admiration for Roberto de Zerbi is growing every season. Facing his side is harder.
“They have had a lot of problems. Important players were sold. They lost Colwill, Mac Allister, Caicedo… all very important players and they have had a lot of injuries.
“They played in more competitions [but] the way they play always is there,” he concluded.
