A key figure in this journey of transformation is Rotarian Adeyemi Lawal, who provided insights into the project’s genesis and objectives. “They shared with us their concerns, outlining the need for illuminated sections of the street during the nighttime hours. The aim was clear to discourage the presence of hoodlums in specific areas.
With this vital input, our approach took shape. We decided to construct a roundabout to manage traffic flow effectively, coupled with strategically placed lights to deter any lurking threats. By enhancing visibility, we’re curbing opportunities for mischief and making the community safer. Fulfilling this mission underscores our commitment to serving humanity, a source of immense pride for our club.”
Rotarian Adeyemi Lawal further extended his insights to those beyond the Rotary circle, encouraging non-Rotarians to actively contribute to their community’s development. “For those who aren’t part of Rotary, I offer a piece of advice. While we Rotarians are specifically attuned to serving humanity, everyone has the capacity to make a difference, no matter the scale. It doesn’t have to be grand; even a small contribution matters.

Observe your neighbors, engage with your community. Identify their needs and aspirations. Collaborate if necessary, not just within your own circles but with organizations like Rotary. By uniting and responding to the needs around us, we’re collectively nurturing a better world.”
Akinsunmi Olamide, a resident who has witnessed this evolution firsthand, shared his perspective on the impact of the project. “When I started working here, there was no light at all. But now, the change is palpable, and it’s making a significant difference, especially during the night.
The illuminated streets have breathed new life into the surroundings, infusing a sense of security and enhancing visibility. It’s heartening to see how this transformation is positively affecting everyone in the community.”
