A source from TRACE, who did not want his name in print due to the sensitive nature of the matter, confirmed the abduction.
It was further gathered that policemen and some volunteers are currently on the trail of the gunmen.
The source said the gunmen, who emerged from the bush, opened fire on a commercial bus in which the official was travelling and he was the only one abducted.
Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesperson for TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Akinbiyi did not answer the calls made to his mobile and had not responded to a text message sent to him.
When contacted, however, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
“Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them. We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.
