Some unknown gunmen on Tuesday attacked a catholic church in Aye Twar par, Agu Centre near Sai, Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue state, and shot dead its priest, Rev. Fr Fabian Ngugban.
DAILY POST reports that the incident happened at about 10 am on Tuesday morning.
The gunmen stormed the community and started shooting sporadically before killing the priest, the newspaper quoted a resident, Gbande U Logo, to have said.
He said that the attack has sparked palpable apprehension in the area as many fled for dear lives.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Anene Sewuese Catherine, said she was yet to be informed about the incident.
“I can’t confirm it now because we are yet to receive official report in that regard.
“When the report arrives, I will get back to you”, she told the media outlet.
