EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Anambra State Police Command, foiled an attack by gunmen in the early hours of Thursday at Nteje Divisional headquarters, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the State.

This was in response to a distress call from the station, which had been attacked by a lethal gang.

At around 3 a.m., Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, led an operation against the attack.

One of the gunmen was killed, while the rest of the group left the area.

One type O6 rifle, one magazine, 53 live 5.56mm ammo, and charms were among the items collected by the operators.

“The Police Operatives firmly dealt with the assailants,” the Command stated in a statement.

“One of the gunmen was neutralized during the gunfight, and the other perpetrators fled the area due to the superior fire of the Police officers.” The station has been secured, and all police officers and weapons have been recovered.

“The CP praised the officers and men of the Command for their dedication and painstaking efforts to filter out all criminal elements in the State,” the CP said, “while reaffirming that the Command will not cease in delivering on its mandate on the protection of life and property.”
