Gunmen Attack Police Patrol Team In Bayelsa, Cart Away Ammunition

Gunmen have attacked a police patrol team in Bayelsa and carted away ammunition.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists have attacked a police patrol team on Kolo-Ogbia Road in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
It was gathered that a police inspector also sustained injury in the attack while his riffle was seized.
A source in the community disclosed that the attack caused pandemonium as residents scampered for safety over fear of being attacked by the gunmen.
Although there were unconfirmed reports that a police Inspector was killed, but the Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, said the Inspector only sustained injury.
Butswat added that an investigation is ongoing, saying, “Police officers who were conducting stop and search operations along Kolo-Ogbia Road, were attacked by gunmen suspected to be cultists, on 11 October, 2021, at about 2245hours.
“A Police inspector was fatally injured and his riffle was carted away. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the gunmen and recover the stolen riffle,” the police spokesperson stated.
