Gunmen Attack Police Patrol Van, kill Officer

  • Gunmen have reportedly killed a police officer during an attack on the police patrol van.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that unknown gunmen have reportedly killed a policeman following an attack on a police patrol van on the Otulu/Akwukwu Igbo Road in Delta State.

The attack was said to have occurred around 6am on Wednesday.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the latest attack by the gunmen resulted in the burning of a patrol van.

The incident was confirmed by the acting Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe.

The police spokesperson, however, noted that the leader of the assailants had been arrested.

“Yes, our men were attacked this morning (Wednesday) around 6.20am in the Akwukwu Igbo community.

“One police officer was killed in the attack, while the attackers succeeded in burning down police patrol vehicle.

“It was orchestrated by miscreants from the community and the ring leader has been arrested and investigation is ongoing,” Edafe said

He further disclosed that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the gang who fled the scene.
