Gunmen Abduct Benue Polytechnic Rector, Demand N70m

Acting Rector of Benue Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Dr Emmanuel Barki, has been kidnapped by unknown Gunmen while returning to Ugbokolo after an official assignment in Makurdi.

Eko Hot Blog reports that Barki was abducted alongside some management staff of the polytechnic and their driver.

According to reports, the abductors moved them away from the highway and abandoned the official vehicle of the polytechnic.

After 24 hours of waiting, the abductors contacted the family of the Acting Rector and demanded a ransom of N70 million.

Among the early callers to the family was the immediate past Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Augustine Akpen Leva.

Leva urged the Benue State Government to improve security across the state to ensure the safety of travellers.
