Gunmen have abducted 11 members of a family, including the wife and two daughters of Muhammed Bashir, a journalist based in Kogi State, in Kaduna.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Bashir’s wife, Aminat, along with their daughters Aisha and Hajara, had arrived in Kaduna on Thursday for a holiday with relatives when the abduction occurred.
Bashir, a correspondent for the New Telegraph, revealed the incident in a brief message to colleagues on Friday in Lokoja.
“My dear colleagues, I urgently need your prayers. My wife and two daughters, along with eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna, where they were visiting for a holiday. Please pray for me,” he wrote on the Kogi Correspondents’ Chapel WhatsApp platform.
The other family members abducted include Aisha Saba Khadija, Haruna, Adamu Haruna, Muhammad Abubakar, Asmau Abubakar, Usman Abubakar, Muhammad Abubakar, and Hauwa Muhammad.
Bashir stated that he has contacted the police and the Department of State Security Services and has been assured that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
