Two foreign road contractors working in Edati local government area of Niger state have been kidnapped by armed gunmen.
The Nation learnt that the kidnapped foreigners include one Arab and a Lebanese.
The Foreign road contractors were involved in reconstructing a road from Yekila village in Edati local government area to Tegina when the gunmen struck on Monday afternoon.
According to a Source, the gunmen appeared in their usual manner, on motorcycles shooting sporadically which made other road workers to take to their heels.
However, the Source said that the foreigners were not that fast as the gunmen surrounded them and took them away.
Efforts made to get the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abiodun Wasiu was unsuccessful as calls put across to him and messages were not responded to.
The Nation also contacted the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to ask if they were aware of the incident but they claimed not to have gotten any information of such from any of their contractors.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works said that it may be one of the federal government projects going on there as they have not received any information that any of their road contractors have been kidnapped.
