Gunmen Kidnap Village Head In Katsina
- Gunmen have kidnapped a village head in Katsina State.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that gunmen have abducted the village head of Banye in the Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was gathered that the village head, Alhaji Bishir Gide Banye, was abducted by the gunmen alongside one other victim believed to be a secondary school student.
A resident of the community disclosed that the assailants invaded the town on Friday night and went straight to the palace of the village head where they kidnapped him together with the other victim.
This online news platform reports that Banye, though in Charanchi Local Government Area, was affected by the GSM network shutdown in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

It was, however, learnt that due to its proximity to the area, the shutdown of the telecommunication services gave the gunmen the opportunity to attack the community unchallenged as residents could not alert security operatives.
This is the second time a village head has been abducted in the area as the village head of Barkiya town in Kurfi Local Government Area was earlier kidnapped.
The village head was, however, lucky to be rescued as security operatives were alerted and trailed the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, had yet to react to the latest abduction in the state as of press time.
