Gunmen Kill 20, Abduct 50 In Zamfara Villages

EKO HOT BLOG reports that about 20 persons have been killed in Bungudu and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State by gunmen.

A source, who craved anonymity, said that the attackers stormed a village, Yar Katsina, in Bungudu Local Government Area and killed about 10 people.

According to him, “The terrorists, riding about 100 motorbikes, struck when residents were observing Jummat prayer at the community’s central mosque.”

He explained that they started firing at people but the the local vigilantes, known as Yan Sakai, stood firmly and defended the community.

He added that most of those killed were women and children, pointing out that the armed criminals lost some of their members.

The source lamented that the bandits abducted about 50 people, mostly women and children.

The source further explained that the bandits were spotted heading towards Dandundun area with the captives.

Terrorists, in the same vein, attacked Nasarawa Mai fara in Tsafe Local Government Area of the State, killing about 10 people.

According to a source, the community was attacked after the residents failed to redeem the levy slammed on them.

He explained that residents fled to Rijiya district of Gusau Local Government Area of the State to escape the attack by the terrorists.

SP Muhammad Shehu, the spokesman of the State Police Command could not be reached for comment on the incidents.
