Gunmen Kill Farm Manager, Kidnap Three in Niger

Gunmen killed a farm manager and kidnapped three others during an attack on two farms in Niger State.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the assailants raided the farms located on the outskirts of Sabon-Wuse community in Tafa Local Government Area.

The farm manager, whose name was not immediately available, reportedly attempted to confront the armed intruders but was shot dead.

The attackers targeted two separate farmhouses, where the manager was killed in one, and three farm workers were abducted from the other.

Hussaini Abubakar, the commander of the Tafa security vigilante group, confirmed the incident on Wednesday. He explained that the gunmen first kidnapped the three individuals before shooting the manager when he tried to resist as they were leaving EKO HOT BLOG reports.

“The manager was among those who attempted to confront the gunmen, but during the altercation, he was fatally shot,” Abubakar said.

He noted that the attack occurred at around 2 a.m. and that the suspects managed to flee the scene before the police and vigilante groups, who responded about 10 minutes later, could arrive. No cattle were stolen during the raid.

Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, also confirmed the incident, stating that two people had been abducted. He assured the public that the police are actively working to rescue the victims.
