Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler In Enugu State
A yet to be identified group of gunmen have reportedly killed Emmanuel Mba, the traditional ruler of Oruku community, Nkanu-East Local Government Area in Enugu state.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that the monarch was shot by unidentified assassins on Saturday afternoon.
As gathered by Eko Hot Blog, the killers staged an attack while Mba was addressing residents of the community at a meeting hall, and was consequently declared dead at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu, where he had hurriedly been taken to for treatment.
In the wake of the incident, irate youths of Oruku community took to the streets to protest the monarch’s death, wantonly destroying properties belonging to the suspected masterminders of the crime.
It was also gathered that the State Police Command ultimately intervened to restore order.

In a reactionary statement, Daniel Ndukwe, police public relations officer (PPRO) in Enugu State, who spoke on behalf of Ahmad Abdurrahman, commissioner of police in the state, said that the police would leave no stone unturned in pressing to the discovery of the culprits of the abominable crime.
“Following the act of violence that occurred in Oruku community over the alleged shooting and death of its traditional ruler by armed men suspected to be policemen, normalcy has been restored by police operatives,” he said.
“I have promptly ordered the deployment of operatives of the command to the area and the launch of a full-scale investigation into the incident.
The police commissioner also urged the residents of the community to embrace calm and desist from any acts of hooliganism while trusting the police command to promptly bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.
