Gunmen Kill Two, Abduct Ex-Commissioner
On Tuesday evening, a violent abduction occurred at a church in Asaba, Delta State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a police officer, as gunmen targeted former Commissioner Joan Onyemaechi.
Eko Hot Blog understands that Onyemaechi, who previously served as Delta’s Commissioner for Technical Education and was a former House of Representatives member, was kidnapped during a church service at King Jesus and I Church, off DBS Road, Asaba.
The assailants fatally shot two people: a police officer serving as Onyemaechi’s orderly and a passerby hit by a stray bullet. Another police orderly and a driver accompanying a politician sustained injuries during the attack.

Witnesses reported that the gunmen abducted Onyemaechi in her SUV amidst intense gunfire.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction, stating, “Two persons, including a policeman, were killed in the incident,” and clarified that “only the former lawmaker was kidnapped.”
