Eko Hot Blog reports that gunmen brought terror to Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway, killing one and abducting seven.
About seven assailants with AK-47 rifles ambushed vehicles with gunfire last Friday.
A survivor recounted being forced into the bush after their cars were halted.
The survivor pleaded in Hausa, and some captives were later released after ransoms.
Police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola confirmed the horrific incident of armed robbery, murder, and kidnapping.
However, the exact number abducted couldn’t be verified, and one traveler was fatally shot.
Commissioner Abiodun Alamutu, outraged by the security breach, ordered a manhunt after a Monday meeting.
Odutola assured efforts were underway, stating, “The CP visited the scene, and we’re working to apprehend the culprits.”
“They will be captured very soon,” she added. Three weeks prior, a similar attack killed Babcock University lecturer Olomojobi.
