HADIS Foundation Awards SAYDI For Excellent Service

The HADIS Foundation has awarded SAYDI for excellent service.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Habiba Dangana Foundation (HADIS) awarded the Saving African Youth Dreams Initiative (SAYDI) for being an excellent partner in the popularisation of violence against persons prohibition law (POVAPPS) in Kwara State.

This news medium gathered that SAYDI received the award earlier in December.

In a statement the convener of SAYDI, AbdulLateef AbdulKareem, shared with Eko Hot Blog on Saturday, the organisation noted that sexual and gender-based violence had been a menace with no adequate provisions in the law to punish offenders.

The group said this realisation forced it to push for the enactment of the VAPP law, which it said would be a deterrent to offenders.

SAYDI added that it was optimistic that the POVAPP initiative will help reduce sexual and gender-based violent acts in Kwara.

“As part of the effort to ensure gender equity and social inclusion Hadis foundation in conjunction with the Ministry of Women affairs and other relevant agencies have worked assiduously together to ensure VAPP LAW sees the light of the day. It will serve as a deterrent for offenders and ensure survivor/victims get justice as stipulated in the law,” the statement reads.

“Through the POVAPP initiative, over 15,000 students had been mentored on gender equity and social inclusion and were also well equipped with the right information on how to report Sexual and Gender-based offenses.
