Half Salary: UNIJOS ASUU Reverses Sit-at-home Order, Resumes Lectures

UNIJOS ASUU has reversed the sit-at-home order and has resumed lectures.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that barely one week after ordering its members to sit at home following the payment of half salaries to members by the Federal Government, the University of Jos branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday, reversed the sit-at-home decision.

The Chairman of ASUU at the University of Jos, Professor Lazarus Maigoro, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

The statement read, “You will recall that at our congress meeting of October 4, 2022, members resolved to sit or work from home in view of the half salary paid to our members for the month of October, which cannot take them to their places of work, having stayed for more than eight months without salary in as much as they really want to work.

“Our branch resolution, of course, was subject to the final decision of our national body.

“However, after receiving a briefing at our National Executive Council meeting of October 7, 2022, our members resolved to vacate the sit-at-home decision while also reaffirming our commitment in the ability of our principal officers to handle the matter appropriately.
