Israeli authorities are investigating this possibility, but official confirmation has yet to be made.

According to sources cited by the BBC, there is a growing belief that Sinwar, 61, may have been killed, although final verification is still pending.
Graphic images circulating online depict a body resembling Sinwar lying amid the rubble of a recently targeted building, showing visible fatal injuries.
Sinwar, who was released from an Israeli prison in 2011 as part of a high-profile prisoner exchange, has emerged as a hardline figure within Hamas, advocating military confrontation over diplomatic solutions with Israel.
He has long been considered Israel’s most wanted individual in Gaza, accused of orchestrating the October 7 assault, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 Israeli citizens and the abduction of more than 250 hostages.
Israel’s Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, publicly quoted the Torah, underscoring Israel’s determination to eliminate those responsible for attacks on its citizens.
He referenced a passage from Leviticus: “You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword,” affirming Israel’s commitment to hunting down its adversaries.
Several officials, speaking anonymously to Reuters, reported that Israel’s security cabinet has been informed that Sinwar is “very likely” dead.
Israeli Channel 12 also provided similar updates, indicating that government sources believe Sinwar has been “eliminated” during the ongoing military campaign in Gaza.
An Israeli security official told AFP that DNA tests are currently being conducted to confirm whether the body found in the rubble belongs to Sinwar.
Israel retains Sinwar’s DNA and biometric data from his time in custody, which will aid in verifying the identity of the deceased.
Reports suggest that the strike occurred during a ground operation in Rafah, southern Gaza, where Israeli forces engaged with militants.
The Israeli military claims to have killed three fighters during this encounter, with visual evidence indicating that Sinwar could be among those killed. DNA results are expected to provide definitive confirmation in the coming hours.
If confirmed, Sinwar’s death would represent a significant military victory for Israel, as he has long been a central figure in directing Hamas’ militant operations, including the 2023 attacks.
His removal would deliver a symbolic blow to Hamas’ leadership amid the ongoing conflict.
