In a shocking turn of events, Ismail Haniyeh, the prominent political leader of Hamas, has been reported killed in Iran.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the Middle East and beyond, occurred under circumstances that are still being investigated by Iranian authorities.

The assassination took place late on Tuesday night in the capital city of Tehran.

According to sources within the Iranian government, Haniyeh was attending a private meeting at a secured location when the attack occurred.

Eyewitnesses report hearing multiple gunshots followed by a series of explosions. It is believed that the assailants managed to breach security and carry out the attack with precision.

Iranian officials have condemned the killing, calling it an act of terrorism. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement expressing deep sorrow and vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This heinous act will not go unpunished. The Islamic Republic of Iran will thoroughly investigate this incident and hold those responsible accountable,” the statement read.
