Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has outlined healthcare plans and advocated for local commerce in the Epe Division of Lagos State.

Speaking at the event, which marked a crucial milestone in Epe’s development agenda, Hamzat urged the community to maximize the use of the newly commissioned Iraye Primary healthcare centre, emphasizing its proximity and importance in contrast to distant healthcare facilities.

“As the saying goes, Health is Wealth and a healthy nation is said to be a wealthy nation. Given that, the significance of sound healthcare delivery in the socio-economic development of any society becomes very imperative and one can, therefore, appreciate the provision of the newly constructed Primary Healthcare Centre to serve the immediate medical and healthcare needs of the community,” he stated.

The Lagos deputy governor highlighted the multiplicative effect of the projects and announced plans to establish an Accident and Emergency Centre at the General Hospital Epe, replicating such centres in other areas for prompt medical care for accident victims.

“Three others will be replicated in other areas so that accident victims can quickly get treatment,” he emphasized, highlighting the government’s commitment to swiftly attending to medical emergencies in various parts of the region.

Hamzat then encouraged the royal leaders to visit the agricultural food and logistics hub in Epe, one of the largest in Africa, aiming to regulate cattle import and foster local participation in business operations.

“We kill almost 4000 cows in Lagos weekly, this place will be used to check the ones with diseases so their import can be stopped,” he said.

The Lagos deputy governor urged the community to safeguard these projects against vandalism, ensuring their sustained functionality for the benefit of the residents.

Dr. Hamzat also extended gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the inclusion of Epe in the supplementary budget, affirming the government’s dedicated efforts toward the region’s development.

Acknowledging the immense backing received from the Epe federal constituency during the 2023 general election, he thanked residents for their faith in the government.

“Today’s event presents an excellent opportunity for us and to thank the people of Epe federal constituency for giving us the biggest margin during the election, they gave us the highest percentage during the election. I want to thank you for the massive support,” the deputy governor added.

Earlier, Raji conveyed deep appreciation to the community for trusting him and his party, the APC, during the 2023 general election.

“I want to appreciate the people of Epe federal constituency for the confidence they have in me and our great party APC during the 2023 general election. It is a privilege I hold in high esteem and will continue to spur me to do more as their elected representative,” he said.

“Your decision to return me to the national assembly is what has given me the opportunity to follow up and complete the numerous projects we started in the 9th assembly which is what we are here today to celebrate. I am also glad and want to tell you that more projects are being executed and many are in the pipeline this project were conceived to enhance the development of our community.”

The Iraye Primary Healthcare Centre

The lawmaker stated that the lack of any public healthcare centre in Iraye prompted him to facilitate the construction of one in the community.

Raji further reeled out the projects he is facilitating and appreciated the community for providing the land.

He revealed that the Shiwola road in Odosiwola, which is a strategic road that connects around 10 communities to the Epe-Ijebu Ode Express Road, was in a total disrepair state, but said the road is now accessible and in good condition and fitted with solar street light to boost nightlife and security in that axis.

“The road is now not motorable but fitted with solar street light that makes the road very passable at night to boost nightlife and security in that axis,” the lawmaker said.
