The Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Obafẹmi Hamzat, at the grand finale of the 20th years anniversary of Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, held at Epe recreation ground, Lagos urged newly installed chiefs to ensure that they utilize their post for the advancement of Epe kingdom.
Obafẹmi Hamzat added that one must be a remarkable person for his ceremony to attract many public figures who sacrifice other duties to attend his anniversary.
Hamzat is also calling for peace coexistence with other tribes that lives in their locality. “It doesn’t matter if you are Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa, the people of Epe should ensure they live in peace and harmony with people from other tribes in Nigeria.”
He further noted that tradition should be held in high esteem by everyone. He said caring for one another involved all the citizens in the community. Dr. Hamzat advised all to seek the good of the community where they lived, saying: “Together we must evolve a common identity.”
In a lecture titled: “The role of Obas in National and Local Economic Development”, the keynote speaker, Prof. Oladele Caleb Orimogunje said that the development of every community in all aspects was paramount to the traditional rulers in Yorubaland.
Among the important dignitaries present at the event were traditional rulers and chiefs, Inspector general Of Police, olojas, honourables amongst others dignitaries.
