Hardship: How Public Servants Can Apply for Nigerian govt’s N40,000 Bag of Rice
The Federal Government has finalised plans to sell 50kg bags of rice at N40,000 each to public servants to alleviate the nation’s food crisis and its impact on Nigerians.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that this initiative was announced in a letter from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, signed by the Director of Human Resources, Jaiyesimi Abimbola.
The letter instructed interested staff members to complete a Google form on the OHCSF website and submit it to the Director of Human Resources for approval.
It also mentioned that payment and distribution of the rice would be managed by designated offices, with the Chairman of the Joint Union Council of the ministry serving as an observer to ensure transparency throughout the process.
“As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to mitigate the current food crisis and its effects on the general population, I am directed to inform you that 50kg bags of rice will be sold at a subsidized rate of N40,000 per bag to interested public servants in Abuja.
“For effective implementation, all interested staff are required to complete a Google form on the OHCSF website, https://www.ohcsf.gov.ng, print it, and submit it to the Director, HR, for endorsement.
“Payment and distribution of the rice will be coordinated by designated officials, while the Chairman of the Joint Union Council of the Ministry is required to serve as an observer during the exercise for transparency.
“I must add that each staff member is only entitled to purchase one bag. Two or more staff members may also jointly pay for a bag to share among themselves.
“Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of staff in your respective Departments/Units for information and guidance.”
Recently, the Federal Government announced the creation of centers across the country where Nigerians could purchase 50kg bags of rice for N40,000.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, stated that this initiative is one of several by the Tinubu administration to improve living conditions for citizens.
