‘He Came to Me Begging for PDP Position’ – Wike Hits Back at Deji Adeyanju

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to criticism from prominent lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, regarding the recent demolitions in Abuja.

Naija News recalls that Adeyanju, along with Vincent Martins Otse (also known as VeryDarkMan), led a protest against the demolition of Ruga, a settlement located along Airport Road in the nation’s capital.

Adeyanju had called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, arguing that the demolition was unjustified. However, in a statement to the press on Wednesday, Wike dismissed Adeyanju’s criticism, suggesting that the activist was merely seeking attention due to being unemployed.

Wike went on to reveal that Adeyanju had once approached him to request the position of Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a request he ultimately rejected.

He stated, “I saw a young man called Adeyanju, from Kogi State. He came to me asking for the role of National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, but I told him no, and I stand by that decision. Now, he’s turned into a civil society activist because he has no job.”

Wike’s remarks suggest a personal grievance against Adeyanju, emphasizing his belief that the activist’s actions were motivated by a lack of professional direction.
