EKO HOT BLOG reports that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed that the National Chairman of PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, is building a private university.
Recall that Governor Wike has been aggrieved since the conclusion of the party’s presidential primaries which produced Atiku Abubakar as the party’s standard bearer in May. He has consistently insisted called for the resignation of Ayu for refusing to step down for a member of the party from the southern part of the country.
At the launching of PDP’s campaign in Rivers State, Ayu was absent. His duty of handing over flags to party candidates in the state was performed by the PDP Deputy Chairman, South, Taofik Arapaja.
Governor Wike stressed that the party chairman lacked the moral rectitude to lead him and Rivers State to any campaign. He also challenged Ayu to sue if the accusations of corruption leveled against him were untrue.
He said, “I will continue to say this. If anybody feels hurt, let him go to court and challenge me. “No man who is corrupt will lead me to a campaign. I have challenged Ayu. You are corrupt and you cannot lead me into any campaign.
Rivers Governor in a previous interview had accused Ayu, of collecting a N1 billion bribe from a presidential candidate in Lagos, adding that the chairman cannot lead his state to any campaign.
“Rivers will not be led to a campaign by Ayu. Rivers State is hurt and angry. I went to Benue State, Ayu, you have not stayed one year in office and you are fighting corruption. How do you fight corruption?”
“You took N1billion. I told you, you took N100 million and the money we realised from the primary. Ayu, sue me. Sue Wike.”
In another allegation, Governor Wike revealed that the PDP’s National Chairman is building a private university in Benue. He alleges that within one year in office, Ayu have been involved in corrupt practices.
“…you are building a university in Benue State. You have not gotten up to one year. Assuming you enter office, what will you do?”
Meanwhile, five governors (G-5) of the party have consistently boycotted the campaign activities of the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku. This is in a show of their displeasure over what they described as unfair treatment of inequality within the party.
With more revelations, Wike knocked those behind PDP’s failure in Ogun State during the 2019 election, alleging that ‘they’ have issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) in 2015.
“You cannot fight Rivers State and go free. Challenge us to a debate. We are integrity governors. Who are those who killed PDP in Ogun State in 2019? Ask them who ran for Ogun State Deputy Governor in 2019? Who are those who killed PDP in Ogun State in 2019? Now they come to media houses and begin to talk.
“They had EFCC problem in 2015 with their wife. They came to me to rescue them. I was not Mr. Donatus, but today I am Mr. Donatus.”
