Health Leaders Convene At HFN Leadership Conference 2023 In Lagos

Eko Hot Blog reports that on tuesday, Professor Akin Abayomi, the Commissioner for Health, joined esteemed health policymakers, healthcare professionals from West Africa, and representatives of health donor and partner organizations at the hfn_nigeria Leadership Conference 2023, held in partnership with @medicwestafrica at the Landmark Centre in Lekki, Lagos.

The HFN Leadership Conference serves as a significant gathering of healthcare leaders from across West Africa. This year’s 2023 edition is themed “Igniting Change: Mobilizing Healthcare in West Africa for a Sustainable Future.”

During his address, Abayomi emphasized that the conference provides a platform for stakeholders in the healthcare sector to collaborate and intensify efforts toward achieving Universal Health Coverage.

He elaborated on how the conference presents an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss matters concerning the provision of sustainable healthcare delivery in Africa and fostering stronger partnerships with the private sector in healthcare provision.

Abayomi reassured attendees that the Lagos State government, under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, remains steadfast in fulfilling the Health and Environment mandate of the THEMES PLUS agenda. The administration is dedicated to implementing policies and strategies aimed at ensuring sustainable healthcare services in the state.

He also emphasized the state government’s commitment to an all-inclusive system of governance, open to productive partnerships with the private sector.


Notable figures present at the event included Dr. Salmas Anas, Special Adviser to the President on Health; Dr. Tomi Coker, Commissioner for Health, Ogun State; Dr. Success Prosper-Ohayagha, Commissioner of Health, Imo State; Mr. Jola Akintola, Commissioner for Health, Osun State (ESQ); Dr. Banji Ajaka, Commissioner for Health, Ondo State; Dr. Samuel Ali, Commissioner for Health, Edo State; Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Management Agency; Dr. Pamela Ajayi, President HFN; Njide Ndili, Vice President HFN, and many other distinguished attendees.
