Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa has applauded Aare Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).
In a press statement forwarded to Ekohotblog, the Minister commended the legal luminary for his noteworthy contribution to the upliftment of the Nigerian state and the entire human race in general.
“While in Ekiti for the 64th NCH, I had the pleasure of visiting Baba Aare Afe Babalola SAN at the Afe Babalola University Campus and meeting the VC Prof Samanda Olarinde. I toured the Campus Hospital with CMD Dr Kolawole Ogundipe amongst many other ABUAD facilities in Ado Ekiti.”
“Seeing these facilities for myself underscored the noteworthy contributions of Baba Afe Babalola to his community, highlighting his unwavering dedication to serving humanity.” he noted
Earlier in the day, Dr Alausa was a guest on Ekiti State Television to discuss the outcome of this year’s National Health Council held in the state.
Fielding questions from presenter, the Minister harp on shaping future of health indices in the country through improved funding and capacity building.
He lamented the high rate of out of pocket spend on healthcare in Nigeria and restated the commitment of the Ministry of health and social welfare to change the narrative.
“Data shows the current level of out of pocket spend on healthcare in Nigeria to be over 70%. This is highly unacceptable, as a Ministry we plan to do better by our citizens.” he said
