Heavily Pregnant Woman, Child Crushed To Death By Trailer In Ebonyi

Tragedy struck in Ebonyi State on Tuesday, July 28 as a pregnant woman and her 5-year-old daughter were crushed to death by an oncoming trailer.

The yet-to-be identified woman and her child were on their way to a food market  located in Ndubia, Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State to sell cassava in order to pay hospital bills of her sick child.

As they tried to cross the expressway, they were crushed by the heavy-duty truck.

The community has been thrown into mourning and the driver of the vehicle has been rushed to St Vincent Hospital in Abakaliki for treatment.

This is happening a week after another heavily pregnant woman identified as Jane Ekpe was allegedly kicked on the stomach by her friend,  Florence Ugwu at Okwo Ngbo market in Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi State.

Ugwu reportedly kicked Ekpe in the stomach during a quarrel that ensued between them at the market on July 11,2020.

It was gathered that the victim started bleeding following the kick, and was immediately rushed to the hospital where she died shortly after being delivered of a premature baby.

32-year-old Jane Ekpe was the daughter of  Chief Bartholomew Ekpe, regent of Umuezeoka Ngbo.
