Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government has announced that the Third Mainland Bridge is set for another round of “palliative work” on September 17 and 24.
The government made the announcement in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, on Friday.
Sections of the third mainland bridge, one of the busiest roads in the country, have failed for some time now, constituting a nightmare to drivers and worsening traffic.
The Lagos transportation ministry said the remedial work will start at 7.00 am each day and end at 7.00 pm.
The statement described the repair as a “palliative work” by the state government in collaboration with the federal government.
Toriola said the repair will be in two phases, noting that the Iyana Oworonshoki inward Adeniji Adele/Lagos Island section will be the initial point of attention.
“The proposed works will be strictly executed in two phases with phase one focusing on only the most critical sections on the Iyana Oworonshoki inward Adeniji Adele/Lagos Island,” the statement reads.
“The palliative works were scheduled for Sundays to minimize inconveniences for motorists.”
