“He’s Not a Tailor”- Family Denies Involvement of Arrested Kano Man in Russian Flag Production
The family of Ahmad Yusuf Muhammad, one of the tailors accused of mass-producing Russian flags in Kano, has denied his involvement in the alleged crime for which he was arrested.
EKO HOT BLOG previously reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended several tailors in Kano State, accusing them of mass-producing Russian flags. The DSS announced on its X handle that the “Service has apprehended some tailors in Kano State responsible for making Russian flags being distributed in the area. Some of their sponsors have also been picked. An investigation is ongoing.”
However, Ahmad’s brother, Nasiru Yusuf Muhammad, told Daily Trust that Ahmad has never been a tailor and has no experience with sewing machines.

“He is my biological brother, and he was arrested because they said he was the one sewing the Russian flags. I want to clarify that he has never been a tailor, has never handled a sewing machine, and doesn’t even know how to use one,” Nasiru stated.
He further explained that Ahmad may have been implicated due to fear or trauma during the arrest. “He’s a used water sachet recycling dealer, and we work together in that business. The sewing machine mentioned doesn’t belong to him and wasn’t found in our home—it was in a neighbor’s house, and that neighbor has since fled.”

Nasiru also mentioned that the flag wasn’t in Ahmad’s possession, and his brother had not participated in any protest or raised any flag. “We had cautioned him, and he listened,” he added.
The family is appealing to the security agencies and authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure justice is served. “We urge the concerned authorities to critically examine this issue and release him. He is not a tailor and is not guilty of the offense he’s being held for,” Nasiru pleaded.
