According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), Safieddine was killed in airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. However, Hezbollah, the influential Lebanese Shia Muslim organization engaged in conflict with Israel, has yet to confirm his death.

Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s previous leader, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on September 27.
Following airstrikes near Beirut’s airport on October 4, Hezbollah officials reported that they had lost contact with Safieddine, while U.S. media outlets cited Israeli officials indicating he was a target of the bombing.
On that night, powerful explosions rocked the city, leaving smoke that lingered into the following morning.
On Tuesday, the IDF released a statement claiming that Safieddine, along with Ali Hussein Hazima, who was identified as the commander of Hezbollah’s Intelligence Headquarters, was killed in a strike targeting the organization’s main intelligence facility in Beirut.
The IDF accused Safieddine of orchestrating “terrorist attacks against the State of Israel” for many years and participating in Hezbollah’s “central decision-making processes.”
Hezbollah is a military, political, and social entity that holds significant influence in Lebanon and is classified as a terrorist organization by Israel, the U.S., the U.K., and several other nations. In 2017, Safieddine was designated a “global terrorist” by both the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
