Hijab Controversy: How Did It Begin, Its Types

When we look at the history of the hijab, it becomes evident that from pre-historic times, the veil has been one of his most basic needs, and he has devised various means to cover himself.

This veil shielded them from the elements, such as cold, snow, rain, and heat, and also protected their honor and chastity. Furthermore, the cover provides a person with a sense of beauty and accuracy, but human clothing, like other tools of his trade, has evolved over time and become more varied.

Hijab

Hijab means “veil” or “covering” in Arabic. So refer to any women’s clothes that complies with Sharia law, such as a traditional Muslim woman’s headscarf in Western societies. The hijab is a kind of body veil.

Professor Motahari argues that the word “cover” is synonymous with “the veil” or “that covers,” as stated in his book “Hijab.”

In any case, the hijab has a long history. The history of the hijab shows that it was worn by some people even before the Islamic headscarf was introduced.

“Hijab is women’s greater antiquity,” writes Vadzhdi Fried in “The Encyclopedia of the XX century.” According to ancient Greek authors, Greek women covered their heads but left their faces open, except when going to the market.

Then they had to put their hands over their faces.” “The women were at an angle on the shoulders of the veil, and men tied a blanket around the pulleys,” writes Will Durant, an American historian.

It is not difficult to learn from historical literature that the hijab is not unique to one religion and that it existed long before Islam.

As Professor Morteza Motahari puts it, “the Jews in ancient Iran, and most likely in India, wore the hijab in a more severe form than Muslims.”

In his book “History of Civilization,” Will Durant wrote about Jews and Talmudic laws: “If a woman violated the Jewish law, for example, by appearing in public without a veil on her head, talking to strange men, or by speaking so loudly at home that neighbors could hear her, her husband was entitled to divorce her without paying her the agreed-upon dowry, even”.

The hijab was part of women’s dress in ancient Rome and Greece, according to historical literature, and was thought to be a strange subject of jewelry for women.

According to the late Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the Romans also wear hijab as a result of the Jews’ influence.

In religious ceremonies and rituals, the Greeks mostly wore the hijab. The hijab was also considered part of women’s jewelry in medieval Europe.

The hijab is completely respected in India, as it was in ancient Iran. “If we assume that asceticism and renunciation of worldly pleasures was one of the causes of the hijab, it should be recognized that India has worn the veil since ancient times because India was a center of asceticism and renunciation of material enjoyment,” writes Professor Motahari.

As a woman wearing the hijab in pre-Islamic Iran.

Will Durant writes about the ancient Iranians, “Women enjoy high respect in Zoroaster, and they can openly and adequately interact with the people.”

It was brought under control after Darius women communicated with the public, especially among the rich.

Poor women were obliged to work and communicate with others in a natural way. As a result, they had more freedom. Other women, on the other hand, spread blankets compliance, especially because they were isolated during menstruation.”

HIJAB’S TYPES

Historical and cultural traditions of the ideological function of calibrated clothing such as the hijab, khimar, niqab, chador, and their variants vary by region.

Abaya is a long traditional Arabic garment that is worn without a belt. It’s made to be worn out in public.

Muslim clothing is required in some Arab countries. Khimar headdresses come in a variety of styles, lengths, and styles of wearing.

Khimar is a headscarf worn by Muslim women in the Middle East, Turkey, and Europe. It is the lightest form of hijab.

Chador is a light blanket that covers the entire body, including the head, in white, blue, or black. An extra piece of light fabric covering the face could be added to the upper half. Is the traditional Iranian interpretation of Islamic women’s attire.

Niqab (Arabic for “mask”) – a hat that conceals the woman’s hair and face, leaving only a slit for the eyes. Black is the most common color.

Hijab

It’s often draped over the head like a veil. There are numerous variations of the niqab and its combination with other subjects of Islamic women’s dress, just as there are with the hijab.

The Gulf countries, Yemen, and southern Pakistan are all home to this species. The most basic is a niqab frontlet (velvet strips sewn to the frontlet of two rectangular shawls and fastened on the brow with the back straps).

One scarf is sewn to the bottom frontlet, and it should only fall on your face at the corners, preserving the eye slit. The second large scarf should entirely cover the hair of women chefs if it is sewn without any cuts.

When another piece of light transparent fabric is fastened to the same frontlet, it forms a veil and closes his eyes. Face-covering clothing is worn for a variety of reasons, including local traditions and customs, as well as protection from sand, dust, and sunshine (in tropical countries).

Burke – a blanket that covers the body and the head, with a slit in the net for the eyes. In fact, in much of Afghanistan and northwest Pakistan, it is compulsory for women.

It is usually blue in color and made of low-cost plastic. A long gown with false sleeves serves as the veil.

It covers the entire body with a thick rectangular grid chachvanom, leaving a slit for the eyes.

The word “Faraj” derives from a Persian word that originally meant “broad cloak.” In Central Asia during the late 1800s and early 1900s, the veil was the most prevalent tradition.

Al-Amir is the modern equivalent of khimar.

It consists of two components: a cotton cap, over which then ties a headscarf. Sometimes, instead of a scarf, complete with a hat is the “pipe” of the same fabric.

A long rectangular scarf that wraps around the head is known as a Sheila.

They concealed or lie along the shoulders at the ends. khimar, one of the best free choices. The Gulf countries are where you’ll find it.

Hijab

Burkina is a Shariah-compliant bathing suit. Covers the entire body except for the feet, hands, and face, and has a pajama-like cut. He’s wearing a cloak over his head.

There are a variety of other sports to choose from. This dress concludes the overarching concept of shutting down aurat.

Aurat – the part of your body where you want the clothing to be hidden from prying eyes. The awrah of a woman is her entire body, except her face, hands, and feet. In Islam, the hijab (Arabic for “veil”) refers to any clothing.

The hijab is the head of the furniture and dresses (costumes), in accordance with the principles of awrah cover: fabric clothing should be such that it is not visible under her body, that is, neprosvechivayuschey, coloring fabrics should not be “flashy,” a colorful, and clothes should not emphasize the shape of the body.

In Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, wearing the hijab is required. The Muslim woman’s headdress, the niqab (from the Arabic – “blanket”), covers the face and has a narrow slit for the eyes.

Typically, black cloth is used. We can conclude from reading and analyzing historical literature that the hijab is not unique to one religion and that it existed long before Islam.

“Hijab was observed in ancient Iran, among the Jews, and, most likely, in India, to a greater extent than in Islam.”
