Hijab Crisis Takes A New Dimension As Islamic Group, CAN Engage In Verbal Exchange

The lingering Hijab controversy appears to have taken a new dimension on Thursday as Christian Association Of Nigeria, and Muslims Right Concern Group were involved in verbal exchange.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, The two religious bodies have been throwing blames at each other ever since fight broke out yesterday which resulted in a stone-throwing contest between Christians and Muslims.

MURIC in a statement which is signed by its director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, warned that if the crisis escalates further, the Christian Association of Nigeria should be blamed for not obeying the rule of law.

“The organization CAN was the one who urged its members to take over the school. Fortunately, only one out of every ten schools witnessed the heinous incident. But it’s a shame that in twenty-first-century Kwara, CAN is indoctrinating its members to oppose democratic norms and the rule of law.

We believe that CAN should be held accountable for anything that occurs in those schools. We are perplexed as to why Nigerian civil society has remained deafeningly silent in the face of this flagrant violation of the rule of law.

“Does it have anything to do with the fact that Muslims are on the receiving end?” Is it because the Christian establishment is to blame? Selective justice is unacceptable to us.

“It is a well-known fact in modern society that any group that disobeys judicial orders invites chaos.

On the other hand, the Christian Association of Nigeria called on the Federal Government and the Inspector-General of Police to intervene in the Kwara State violence over the hijab policy on Wednesday.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq should give peace a chance, according to CAN, which issued a statement through its General Secretary, Joseph Daramola.

“We learned that the state government has ordered the reopening of closed schools without resolving the crisis, and as a result, churches and mission schools are being vandalized with impunity by hoodlums relying on the state government’s support under the guise of enforcing the policy,” Daramola said.
