- The official list, which took almost a week to release, had been anticipated with bated breath by observers and key stakeholders.
Unprecedented history appears to be in the offing in Epe Division as Princess Animashaun Surah Olayemi, has taken a giant leap towards becoming the first female Local Government Chairman in the Division after winning the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Election Primaries.
According to the official result signed by Hon Tunde Balogun, the State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Princess Animashaun emerged winner of the Primaries held on Saturday, May 30, 2021, in Epe as well as 19 other Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog had reported earlier that the Primary Elections of the ruling Party in Epe, as well as other Local Government Areas in the state, was marred by violent infractions and electoral irregularities.
The official list, which took almost a week to release, had been anticipated with bated breath by observers and key stakeholders as political heavyweights in the Division had been drawn into bouts of recriminations and counter-recriminations in the wake of the Primaries.
As gathered, incumbent Chairman of Epe Local Government as well as other Chairmen of LCDAs from Epe Division who were seeking re-election for a second term in office all lost their seats. The likes of Hon Adedoyin Adesanya (Epe), Hon Adeniyi Saliu (Eredo), Hon Samson Onanuga (Ikosi-Ejinrin) all lost out narrowly while Barrister Mukandas Ogidan and Hon Kemi Surakat did not contest having completed two terms in office.
According to the list, which was made available to Eko Hot Blog, the charismatic Princess Animashaun Surah Olayemi, whose candidacy is deputized by seasoned politician, Alhaji Owolomoshe Sikiru, was declared the winner in the keenly contested Primaries to emerge as the All Progressives Congress flagbearer for the July 24 Local Government Elections scheduled to hold in Lagos State.
In Eredo LCDA, the dogged alliance of the Omituntun and Isokan Eredo movement chaperoned by Hon Dahunsi Oluwaseun Ogunkelu saw the emergence of Ismail Monsuru Aimasiko with Lateef Olusanya Olugbenga as his vice, while Olowa Abdulahi Sesan (Jaja) clinched the Chairmanship candidate in Ibeju, Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji emerged as the vice-chairman. Also, Kasali Bamidele Razak (RBK) got the nod in Lekki with Alogba Oluremi Abiodun as his vice. It wasn’t different in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA as Hon Anomo Adewale Ibraheem, a reputable scholar and Dehinsilu Wasiu Oluwole emerged as Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively.
