Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Mayegun Emerges Oba-Elect For Onikoyi Stool In Ikoyi And Imoba Land

Eko Hot Blog reports in a significant development, the Dosumu Onikoyi ruling house has officially selected Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Mayegun as the Oba-Elect for the vacant Onikoyi of Ikoyi and Imoba Land stool in Lagos.

Alhaji Abidemi Iris Duale introduced Hon. Mayegun during a well-attended forum with members of the Jinnadu Agbeti and Fagbemi ruling families under the Dosumu lineage.

Alhaji Idris Duale emphasized the Oba-Elect’s high intellectual capacity, dignity, and reputable grassroots political involvement, noting that the family collectively sought after him, and he did not actively pursue the position.

The selection process, as shared by Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, involved virtual meetings among the Jinadu Agbeti and Fagbemi Ruling Houses, culminating in a voting session.

Other contestants included Idris Onikoyi, Taofik Ope Onikoyi, Alhaji Idowu Johnson Onikoyi, and Ganiyu Onikoyi.

Hon. Moshood Mayegun emerged victorious with seven votes, while Ganiyu Onikoyi received three votes. Ganiyu Onikoyi graciously conceded defeat and congratulated Mayegun after the election.

Former House of Representatives member Hon. Abayomi Mayegun commended the transparent and fair selection process, expressing optimism about the ruling house benefiting greatly if Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu accepts Hon. Moshood Mayegun as the new Onikoyi of Ikoyi and Imoba Land.

 

Prince Fatai Adio Lawal, the Olokun Ishagbe of Lagos, also endorsed the selection.

In response, Oba-Elect Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Mayegun expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the ruling house. He acknowledged the challenging journey and credited his success to the support of God and family members.
