EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawmaker representing Epe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Oluwaseun Dahunsi Ogunkelu, has said that he has no plans to wrestle power from leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eredo LCDA, Epe.
Hon Ogunkelu made this known while speaking at the official flag-off of the campaign for Eredo LCDA chairmanship aspirant, Hon Monsuru Aimasiko, at Odomola on Wednesday.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the gathering was a coalition of four aspirants who unanimously decided to present a consensus candidate to contest against the incumbent chairman in the forthcoming primary election.
Speaking in an interview with EKO HOT BLOG, Hon. Ogunkelu said he holds the party leaders in high esteem just as he frowned at those criticizing him for not endorsing the incumbent chairman, Hon Adeniyi Saliu.
The lawmaker said, “Hon Wasiu Odeyemi WASTAB is our leader, I’m not disputing it. I’m not bent on taking power from him or anybody. I’m just being kind to see what is good for our people in Eredo LCDA.
“People would be wondering why am I not endorsing Hon Adeniyi Saliu. It’s a simple thing. When I was chosen as the consensus candidate by the party leaders in 2018, the chairman came out openly and said that no, we must go for primaries. And that’s what’s happening here today.
“The leaders have signed that we should all vote for him but I personally reject that.
“I’m supporting Hon Monsuru Aimasiko because I know he can do it. I know he can move Eredo LCDA forward,” he stated.
Hon Ogunkelu, who attributed the tremendous support from youths in the LCDA to his embracing and accommodation attributes, alleged that the incumbent chairman transferred those who campaigned against his election from the Local Council.
He, however, promised that the incumbent will be voted out of office on May 29, 2021.
The chairmanship aspirant, Hon Monsuru Aimasiko, revealed his plans for the LCDA which include the purchase of a Grader Payloader to open up new roads, improvement on the 7 health centres, primary education, and poor environmental sanitation.
The Local Government and Public Administration graduate of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) implored his supporters to troop out on the day of the primary election to vote for him just as he vowed to deliver his promises to the residents.
On his part, the aspiring Vice Chairman, Saibu Azeez Kayode, said he’s confident of unprecedented development in the LCDA with the choice of Hon Monsuru Aimasiko.
