Concerned about the recent flooding in parts of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government due to torrential rainfall, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, paid a first-hand assessment visit to Abule Pan, Shapati, Igbojia, and Desa communities.

Eko Hot Blog reports that Accompanied by members of the Flood Mitigation Committee, Hon. Olowa inspected the interconnecting canal waterways and observed that human activities had disrupted the natural flow of water, contributing to persistent flooding in the affected areas.

Addressing the committee and community members, Hon. Olowa said, “We have seen firsthand the level of damage and the causes. The canals must be cleared to allow the free passage of water, and we will ensure this is done promptly.”

He further appealed to residents, stating, “Everyone has a role to play. We must stop activities that block these waterways if we truly want to put an end to flooding in our communities.”
It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, the Executive Chairman established the Flood Mitigation Committee to identify the root causes of flooding in the area and recommend lasting solutions.
