Chairman of Eredo local council development area, Honourable Saliu Adeniyi, has flagged off empowerment programme for youth in the locality in order to boost their employability ahead of the impending boom in business activities in Epe division.
The numerous monumental construction works are complementary to the developments springing up across the division. Notable on the corridor of the road networks are Dangote Refinery, the Deep Seaport, Lekki Free Trade Zone, The Lagos State Rice Mill Imota amongst others. These organizations will require a level of expertise and technical know-how of youths to secure any job slot.
In light of the above, Hon. Adeniyi Saliu decided to launch the programme tagged “Operation 50 Technicians ” geared towards positioning and preparing the youth in Epe for the prospects and opportunities that will come their way.
The laudable programme is aimed at training youths to get them qualified for employment opportunities in organizations springing up across the division.
As contained in a statement signed by Hon. Saliu and sighted by Ekohotblog, 10 indigenes will be sent on year residential program in courses available.
This, he said, was part of the initial program of which 21 indigenes benefited through collaboration with NOIC.
He noted that beneficiaries will be selected on merit and fully sponsored to Gateway Industrial and Petro-Gas Institute. He also stressed that interested youths should submit applications to the Human Resources Department or the Chairman’s Office or make enquiries through Wale Alaketu- 0802 350 8235, comrade Aremu- 0803 330 3549.
He also revealed that the school resumes by the end of February and as a result, applications for the opportunity would close by February 20th whilst the names of successful candidates would be published by February 25th for immediate school resumption.
Hon. Saliu therefore called on well-meaning indigenes and other like minds to support the scheme so as to reach the goal of the program, he also revealed that sponsors could either approach the school directly or work with the Council.
