The Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon Adeniyi Saliu has hailed the French Government for its immense contributions towards the development of tourism and the agricultural potentials in the LCDA.

Hon Saliu was speaking in his address on Wednesday, 30th August 2021 at the royal palace of the Alara of Ilara kingdom, Oba Dr olufolarin Ogunsanwo, during the visit of the French ambassador, Jerome Pequier.

The Chairman, who highlighted the significance of establishing robust ties between Eredo and other economically viable entities across the international community, implored the French emissary to intimate its government on the mutual benefits that could result from investing in hi-tech, robot-assisted farming.

“The government and entire people of Ilara, Eredo, Epe are very delighted to welcome you. There’s a lot we can do together as a government and as a community. The throne of Ilara needs to have a relationship across the border.”

“The relationship between you and the Kabiyesi which also extends to the palace is impressive and there can be an exchange of cultures. We know what your people do, the palace there also needs to know what our people do. There’s a lot we can learn there and they can learn here; exchange of archives, exchange of history, reviews, we can work together,” he stated.

“I appeal to you for cooperation, our people can learn a lot from agriculture, we want them to see robotic farming. In Nigeria today, we’ve clocked the level of mechanized farming but we need to also look further to enhance how to put robots into our farms.”

“Over 60% of the African population are farmers, more than 82% of our trade in west Africa is derived from agriculture, so, we can’t have that kind of economy and we are not at that level of applying robots on our farms,” he said.

The Chairman further emphasized the need for synergy between the French and Nigerian Governments, noting that such a partnership would greatly improve the LCDA in terms of agriculture, human capital development, science, technological advancements, as well as several other aspects of endeavour.

Hon Adeniyi Saliu also appreciated the unwavering dedication of Professor Adisa Ogunfolakan and his team for their efforts towards making Sungbo Eredo “bankable, commercially viable and something of reference to the entire State and country.”

Professor Ogunfolakan Adisa, the project lead, described the Sungbo-Eredo project as an ace exploit, which explains why the French and American governments have taken particular interest.
