Honourable Wale Raji, lawmaker representing Epe at the house of representatives, says plans are underway to give Ito-Ikin Market in Epe a new lease of life and contemporary outlook.
The lawmaker made this known during a courtesy visit to Oloja of Epe, HRM, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun at his Royal Palace in Epe on Friday 12th February 2020.
He was on inspection tour of the intervention projects he has embarked on in the area.
He said, upon completion of reconstruction works, the market will boost the economy of the community.
Consequently, the Lawmaker also constitute a strategic team to look into the root causes of erratic power supply at the request of constituents in the market.
The MHR also intimated HRM Oba Animashaun with other projects he intends to execute in the year 2021.
Notable among these are the Fish Preservation and Processing Center situated in Oluwo (Chief) Market. He also disclosed that Transport Workers and Artisans would be provided with support to improve their livelihoods.
” On our way to Epe from Agbowa-Ikosi, we stopped by at Itokin market. We want to rebuild it so that it will boost the economy of the community.
At Ebute Chief (Oluwo Market), I remember vividly when we went to campaign and canvass for votes, I was informed about the bad state of the Cold room and from there, I decided that we are going to provide for them a brand new cold room.
“What we are setting up there right now is Fish Preservation and Processing Center. It is nearing completion with the cold room installed and also provided with a generator.
The fish smoking machine is gas-powered which smokes fish for under 30 minutes.
” What is fascinating about the facility is that the carbon content is tolerable and not injurious to the body based on the international standard. The high carbon content of smoked fish exported from Nigeria is cancerous and this makes it difficult for our people to attract high patronage “, he stated.
In an exclusive interview with Ekohotblog, Raji disclosed that his leadership will make provision for Transport Workers with motor vehicles, tricycles and more motorbikes. The bikes he said are still a major source of transportation despite being banned in Lagos Metropolis.
He noted that bikes are a source of livelihood to many people in his constituency. He thereby hinted that Artisans will also be provided with supports in their businesses.
