Hon. Wale Raji Pays Condolence Visit to the Family of Late Mr. A.A. Adeyeye

Hon. Wale Raji, the Member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, visited the family of late Mr. A.A. Adeyeye in Odolewu, Ogun State, to console them over the tragic loss of their patriarch.

It would be recalled that Mr. Adeyeye, who was a dedicated Basic Technology teacher at Pobuna Junior Secondary School, Poka, Epe, lost his life in a fatal road accident on Monday, December 30, 2024.

Ekohotblog reports that the he accident, which involved a truck and an 18-passenger bus carrying teachers, occurred as the educators were returning from a state audit exercise in Alausa, Lagos.

Accompanied by key members of the Epe Branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), including Chairman Comrade Shakiru Olatunji, Vice Chairman Comrade Adeyemi Bello, and Treasurer Mrs. Bello, Hon. Raji expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the bereaved.

Addressing the widow and other grieving family members, Hon. Raji said,

“This is a tragic loss not only for your family but also for the entire teaching community and the Epe Federal Constituency. Mr. Adeyeye was a man of immense dedication and passion for education.

May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give you the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

The lawmaker expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Governor for halting the audit exercise indefinitely in light of the incident.

He called for reforms in such processes, stating, “Future audits must be decentralized to avoid unnecessary travel risks.

It is time to leverage these innovations for audits to ensure safety and efficiency.”

Rep. Raji also commended the swift interventions by the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, the Head of Service, and TESCOM in providing medical care for the injured.

He further lauded the contributions of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Branch, the management of Epe General Hospital, and the NUT leadership for their support during this trying time.

In his remarks, Comrade Shakiru Olatunji, the NUT Chairman, described Mr. Adeyeye as an exemplary teacher.

“Mr. Adeyeye was a shining light in the education sector, and his passing is a deep loss to us all. We will continue to stand by his family and honor his memory,” he said.

The condolence visit concluded with prayers for the family and a reflection on the invaluable contributions of educators like Mr. Adeyeye. Rep. Raji said, “Teachers are nation-builders, and their sacrifices should never go unnoticed.

Mr. Adeyeye’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched ”
