In his account, the Etsu Lokoja recounted: “I heard a loud bang on my door, woke up to check through the window, and saw flames coming from my car, which had been set on fire by the attackers.”
Realizing it was an attack on the palace, he stated he was forced to escape through the back door and scale the fence for safety.
He added, “I urge my people to remain peaceful and law-abiding, as this incident has brought the attention of the government to our situation.”
The Nupe Natives of Lokoja Development Union was reportedly planning to host the 2nd Edition of the “Lokoja ’24 Nupe Cultural Fiesta” before the attack occurred.
Attempts to reach the Kogi Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Aya, for comments on the incident were unsuccessful.
