Job Summary: The General Manager will oversee hotel operations to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, while balancing the needs of the hotel’s mission, guests, employees, and owners. This role requires effective leadership and the ability to maximize the hotel’s full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all hotel operations and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Assign duties to department heads (HODs) and monitor their performance.
- Provide staff and HODs with training to maintain high standards.
- Act as the hotel’s public relations representative and promote the property within the local community and industry.
- Monitor guest feedback through TripAdvisor, GSTS, and RSTS surveys.
- Resolve guest complaints and manage service recovery processes.
- Collaborate with the HR department in the recruitment and selection of hotel staff.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and handle disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, including financial reports and guest billing.
- Ensure compliance with hotel operating controls, policies, and service standards.
- Build strong relationships with hotel owners through proactive communication and expectation management.
- Conduct audits on hotel supplies and operating areas to ensure efficiency.
- Provide leadership and guidance to hotel staff, being available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
- Participate in corporate client acquisition alongside the sales team.
- Respond to audits to promote continual improvement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of B.Sc or HND in hospitality, business administration, marketing, or property management.
- Knowledge of hotel property software and business administration principles.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in hotel management.
- Strong organizational, public relations, and management skills.
