There was palpable apprehension at Geidam in Yobe state on when Wednesday after suspected Boko Haram insurgents invaded the community.
Geidam is the headquarters town of Geidam local government area (LGA).
Ekohotblog gathered that the marauding insurgents invaded the community around 2pm on Wednesday but started shooting at about 6pm.
A source who is familiar with the development said residents took cover in the bush as they scamper for safety while the insurgents set ablaze houses.
Sources said the insurgents continued shooting as of 8pm despite the presence of Nigerian army and the air force at the area.

Geidam is about 180 kilometres from Damaturu, the Yobe capital.
