TJ Abass made the call in Houston, Texas during a ceremony held to mark the 70th birth anniversary of US-based lawyer Dr Olu Mcguinnis Otubushin.
TJ Abass, who noted that Nigeria as a country is blessed with immense natural and human resources, emphasised the importance of placing the youths at the nerve centre of developmental projects and nation-building.
He said, “The youth must have a prominent role in your administration. Putting together a youth summit in all 36 states will allow you to listen to the yearnings, aspirations, and concerns of the youths.
“Just like he did when you were the governor of Lagos State, he would surround himself with the best and brightest minds, individuals who share his passion for a united Nigeria and restoring the old glory of Nigeria, that golden era when Papa Ngozi and Baba Iyabo would hang out and share a beer without tribe coming in-between them.”
Abass, who noted that he was confident beyond measure that the best of Nigeria is yet to come, urged Nigerians of all ethnicities and orientations to work together for the country’s good.
He further expressed confidence that with Asiwaju’s proven track record and leadership acumen, Nigeria will experience significant transformation on an unprecedented scale.
Abass, a former president of the foremost socio-cultural group, Eko Club International, also urged the incoming president to work closely with diaspora Nigerians in view of the expertise and investment opportunities their international connections can attract to Nigeria.
He added, “I remember 25 years ago, during your tenure as the Governor of Lagos, when you visited Houston not only to attend the Eko Club International convention but also to conclude the 800 million dollar deal with Enron, a Houston Energy Company.
“This independent power project deal would have provided a steady power supply for 8 million residents of Lagos, a project intended to light up Lagos, which unfortunately was stifled by the power that be.”
