Yemen’s Houthis have declared their readiness to launch attacks against Israel if it breaks its ceasefire agreement with Hamas and resumes military operations in Gaza.

In a televised speech on Tuesday, Houthi leader Abdel-Malik al-Houthi warned, “Our hands are on the trigger,” emphasizing that his group was prepared to intervene militarily if the situation in Gaza escalates.

Since the start of the conflict, the Houthis have conducted over 100 attacks on Red Sea shipping and launched missiles and drones toward Israel in declared support of Palestinians. Following last month’s ceasefire deal, they scaled back attacks but have now signaled a possible return to action amid rising tensions.

The ceasefire agreement, structured in three phases, is already under strain due to Israeli violations, according to Hamas.

The first phase involves prisoner exchanges, partial troop withdrawal, and increased humanitarian aid. However, Hamas announced on Monday that it would halt the release of Israeli captives due to continued breaches, including killings and restrictions on medical evacuations.

The situation escalated further when U.S. President Donald Trump warned Hamas to release all captives by Saturday or risk the truce being revoked. In response, senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri insisted that both sides must uphold the agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed Trump’s stance, stating in a video message that Israeli forces were prepared to resume intense combat until Hamas was “completely defeated.” Defence Minister Israel Katz has also placed troops on high alert inside and around Gaza.

The war has devastated Gaza, killing at least 48,219 Palestinians, displacing most of the population, and pushing hundreds of thousands to the brink of humanitarian catastrophe, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.
